Sharivka Castle complex stands out among other parks and palaces built as ensembles in Kharkiv Land — the pre-revolution traditions of country estate culture have been preserved here.

The complex is situated on the slopes of a deep ravine surrounded by a forest. Its dominant feature is the palace erected in pseudo-gothic style on the northern slope.

These lands used to belong to different owners, but at the end of the 19th century a new generation of owners — the family of a businessman Koenig, who was engaged in sugar production, completed the construction of the country estate, complete with a power station, servants' house, stable and conservatory, and in 1900-1905 the upgrading of the park complex was finished as well. A great many species of plants had been acclimatized, and the park got enriched with exotic plants from all over the globe. You could see here several species of fir, juniper, spruce, coffee trees, various types of lilac, Amur cork tree etc. The pride of the old park is its terraces with broad stairs, as well as the picturesque ponds. Walking along its shady alleys you can't help admiring the skills and the talent of those who had laid out the park and managed to foresee the way it would look like a century later.

Sharivka was lucky to have escaped the bitter destiny of many country estates and it did not suffer as much as many others did, though the manege and stables had been ruined, the country estate church disassembled, some premises rebuilt - for a long period of time the palace had been used as a health resort. All those factors deteriorated the style integrity of the unique architectural complex.

But even so the two-storey palace with arched windows and the front entrance decorated with columns remains the compositional center of the country estate building. The palace Interior, which has been preserved until now, convey a special subtlety characteristic of the best country estates of the end of the 19th the beginning of the 20th centuries.
